I recently had the pleasure of participating in a significant round table organized by La Luna del Grano – Benefit Corporation, as part of the “Women’s Legacy – Back To Work” event. The meeting, which took place in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, represented an important opportunity for discussion on crucial issues related to parenthood, work, and cultural change.
During the event, moderated by the talented Anna Acquistapace, we had the opportunity to hear different perspectives and profound reflections. In particular, I was struck by the words of Monica Castagnetti from the Center for the Health of Girls and Boys non-profit, who emphasized that “being a dad doesn’t mean ‘helping mom’,” a phrase that encapsulates a fundamental paradigm shift in the concept of shared parenthood.
The round table saw the participation of numerous professionals, including Valentina Fantuzzi, Antonio Oriolo, Giulia Rota Biasetti, and my co-founder Sonia Zappitelli. Together we explored how the prevention of violence passes through the sowing of love, culture, and a sense of nurturing, teaching women to take care of themselves and men to take care of newborns.
A powerful message that emerged from the meeting is that the only true opposite of love is violence. As Giulia Rota Biasetti aptly summarized in her post: “Today, besides demonstrating ‘against,’ we teach our children that we can grow ‘together’.”
I am grateful to all those who participated and contributed to this important debate, and to those who support us daily in the path we are tracing with La Luna del Grano. Together we are already going far, towards a future where gender equality will no longer be a goal to achieve, but an established reality.
